In February, Chile experienced one of the worst forest fires in recorded history and affected the central-southern area of the country, especially the Valparaíso Region.
More than 17 thousand hectares of vegetation were destroyed, along with a number close to a thousand homes affected and hundreds of fatalities. Australia and California have also experienced similar events, which shows that the world will continue to be impacted by these types of events due to rising temperatures and human action.
Today there are satellites that allow forest fires to be detected in early stages, using thermal and high-resolution images, providing a rapid and effective response to mitigate their spread and minimize damage.
